Life and Science Museum in Durham

We had so much fun this morning at the Life and Science Museum in Durham! Not only did we get to hang out with G's Mimi, but we also got to see the butterfly house!
Walking up I wasn't sure how G was going to like it, especially when the air turned on as we opened the door to come in (the air shoots down to keep the butterflies from flying away) but we made it inside and adjusted to the heat and started checking out the butterflies.
They had these really great butterfly charts you could carry around and see what kind of butterflies you were seeing. It not only gave G something to hold onto but as those tiny things were darting all around we were able to show her, look! Its a butterfly!
She loved pointing at them as they flew all around us.

One that actually landed pretty close.

She would turn the chart over to check out the back as if she was looking for something specific. I love when these little people imitate what they see grown ups do!

Walking along like a little lady.
It never got old, and we literally set down on every bench on the path. Each time we saw a new butterfly it was like the first time all over again. It is so fun to take her places where its so obvious she enjoys it!
 Hugs with her Mimi.
Butterflies eating on fruit. We kept telling G that the butterflies eat apples and bananas just like she does!
There was a bug section outside of the butterfly house that we spent a while in. Until I realized there were giant spiders not in cages and decided I had enough of the bugs. Hopefully G grows up loving them so she can get rid of them for her Mom! :)
They had an awesome outdoor farm area. I can't wait to go back when the weather isn't quite as drizzly so the animals will be more active. This girl loves her some cows and ducks!
Quack Quack! G was unsure if that was really a duck... but the sign said yes.

Music time! G LOVES sounds, she loves making sounds herself and listening to others make sounds. This area was her dream! Not only did large kids come in and bang on things giving her something to observe, but she also got a chance to hit the different objects with a stick! Best day every.

 Banging on the metal drums.

Nevermind how much fun we had outside, there was an entire kid under 6 area inside. G loved climbing up into the tree house and looking out.
She  made the funniest grunting sounds while determined to make it up this kid rock wall. I wonder if that is how I sound when I try to accomplish difficult tasks. hehe
And finally we found a toddler area, a little slower moving and more freedom for my girl. She loved it all.

My favorite pictures from our trip were all in the butterfly house. I am just so loving watching this girl grow and get excited about learning. I know it is the teacher in me but when her face lights up it is so exciting!
Seriously saying "oh my gosh we saw a butterfly!"
Great trip if you are in the Durham area!
