North Carolina Zoo

This weekend we got to take advantage of the North Carolina Zoo! It was not at all what I was expected. There were lots of very natural path ways between exhibits and the animals had large LARGE areas to roam in. We enjoyed seeing so many different animals but sometimes they were super far from where we were. Here is G checking out real lions for the first time!

She is pointing at them. You can kind of see the girl lion to the left of the smaller rock. The boy lion is even further in the sun to the left of the huge rock.
There were lots of beautiful sculptures around. This is G and her friend B who we took with us!
We got to see the chimpanzee's up really close. G just stared at it for a long time!
It was all stroller accessible which was nice! Sometimes carrying an 18 month old, especially one who wants to independently walk the whole time, is tiring. It was great for her and us to have a space she could relax in.
There were lots of cool games throughout the zoo like this one. We stayed here a long time allowing G and B to spin the wheel and play the game.

G excited she found a place to sit down for about 10 seconds before jumping up for the next thing.
Yup... and sometimes life is just unhappy because Daddy picks us up when we wanted to be running around. Never mind the rhinos and elephants she couldn't see from her height. Oh parenting.
Stopping for a snack break! We were all getting hungry! Lunch was only 30 minutes away but I was afraid we weren't going to make it. So we found a comfy bench and set down for a bite.
Best seat in the house by far! Not only can you see everything but you get to play with Daddy's hair.

Finally seeing the elephants without tears in our eyes!

Riding the tram. We rode it several times! We got a break from walking and it was fun to feel the wind in our hair.

Bubbles in a baby pool. Of course we had to stop. Everyone had a great time trying to make the huge bubbles.
Sea lions! We even got to go under the ground and check out the below water scene.

 Favorite Mommy & G picture.
 Favorite Daddy & G picture.
Family picture! (We were waiting for B to finish a game when a stranger came up and took a picture, so nice!)
